About Gymlog

The GymLog is a free java client for mobile phones that will assist you in recording and tracking your workout progress. It allows training results to be easily collected and uploaded to this website for a better overview, statistics and for sharing results between training partners.

GymLog lets you personalize your workouts. There are no built in set or rep schemes and no preset routines. The programs are designed by you. Just pick the exercises you want to perform from the exercise repository and build your personal routine. As you progress, you can generate graphs to show your improvement. Record workouts for up to three persons.

A training log is an indespensable tool in the gym.

  • Upload results for statistics and backup
  • Display statistics and charts on website
  • Maintain logs for up to 3 individual persons
  • Custom user interface for smooth rapid logging during workout
  • Easy composition of training programs
  • Detailed description of which muscle each exercise affect
  • Export collected results to Excel, Web, Facebook etc.

Why use GymLog instead of pen and paper?

A traditional pen and paper is certainly not a bad solution. But many people tend to stop after a while because of annoyances like these:

  • It's time consuming and tedious to interrupt the training to write down the results. Using GymLog smooth custom interface you can rapidly switch between exercises and log the results.
  • Forgetting to bring the log. On stressed days it's easy to forget to bring the log book, and as soon as that has happend a couple of times the results become incoherent and one may lose the motivation to continue logging. To most people it's much easier to remeber the phome, thus using GymLog you're more unlikely to forget your log.
  • Backup. You may lose you paper log or it may be damaged. Of course it's also possible that you lose your phone, but if you upload your results on a regular basis they are not lost.
  • Better overview. The paper log enables you to browse through the results, but it's not an effecient tool for getting an broader view of your progress. The GymLog enables you to view your progress as charts and tables.
  • Variation in your training. It's very easy to get into a habit of repeating the same exercises for a long period of time, but to keep improving you should vary your exercises. With GymLog it's easy to lookup alternative exercises even during the workout.

The GymLog is simply much easier to use than a paper log. Try out the free trail and you will surely see the benefits.
